Sporting Index Cricket Roulette

Thursday, January 17th, 2008

Sporting Index had another “refund your losses upto £30″ for their new game Cricket Roulette. I did the usual thing of 9 small bets (after which I was down £1.65) and then a big bet which had a max loss of £28.50 and a max win of £108. Needless to say I got boweld out first ball incurring the maximum loss for anoverall result of -£30.15 or down 15p after the refund tomorrow.

I thought this was one oftheir more exciting games although I would never play it with my own money because I have no idea what their edge is.

Intercasino$

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

A couple of years ago Intercasino was one of the best monthly casino bonuses around. Gradually, the WR went up and up and I stopped doing them for a long time (although I occasionally hit Intercasino£ for a few quid). But they offered me a bonus $20:

Hi Xxxxx,

I haven’t seen you at InterCasino since my last e-mail, so I wanted to see whether $20 in your account would tempt you back?Simply wager 1 cent or more on any InterCasino game, including Jewel Quest and our other amazing new games, and I will credit your account with $20! Offer valid for the next 7 days.

So, I reloaded with $200 to get this and do the Blackjack bonus for Dec at the same time. To be frank, so far, it has not gone well. I am halfway through the $5,000 betting needed to clear the bonus and my balance stands at $198. So, both bonuses have disappeared and I still have a long way to go before it is finished!

The game itself is reasonably quick if you select a table on your own. I play the minimum $2 per hand but just hit a bad run..

Another Free Bet from bet365

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

Bet365 have given me another £5 free bet. They also have the Ch4 4/1+offer on four races tomorrow from Cheltenham. I have a £50 free bet carried forward from the last race on Sat so should see at least £40 profit from this. The Feature Races this week have been pants. I have only had got 2 bets on with no winners.

Paddy power BJ Bonus

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Also did PP’s £25 blackjack bonus today. This had a WR of £825 so should of produced a profit of over £20.

PP was dealing himself an ace all the time. When he didn’t he caught 3 and 4 cards to hit 21.

Finished down £18 so up +£7 overall after the bonus was added.

England v Austria

Friday, November 16th, 2007

England play a friendly against Austria tonight and the best price available looks to be 4/5 (1.80) with The Tote. They have cut the online price but are still accepting coupons in the shops.

The price has been hovering arround 1.72-1.76 for the last couple of days on the exchanges but at 12.oo today it has spiked back upto 1.79. I will keep watching it later this afternoon as it could easily fall back nearer kickoff if England supporters want loyalty bets. WBX have it as their 0% commission match so I will be happy to match out at 1.76 or better here.

A big batch of International Matches normally produces a few chances to lock in a profit. Russia and Spain look as though there will be the mostly likely candidates of tomorrow’s games at the moment.

Sporting Index’s Kennington Park Promotion

Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Spread betting is something I don’t really want to get involved with. Its just way too risky. At least if you have a normal bet the worst that can happen is you lose your stake money. If a spread goes bad you can be completely wiped out. It’s like the crack cocaine of gambling.

However, I do have an account with Sporting Index (but not a credit a/c) to do some of the games promotions they run. These are normally every other week, either Wednesday or Thursday.

Today’s offer was make 10 bets of 20p or more on Kennington Park and any profit you make upto £100 gets doubled. KP is a computerized horse racing track and they offer all sorts of weird bets over 6 or so races.

Now 20p might not sound like much but because of the gearing effect of spread betting it can either win or lose many times that. Get 10 losers in a row and a £100 loss or more is quite possible.

I don’t make any claims about the best way to do this offer. In fact, I would welcome advice but what I did was look for was a relatively low variance bet and cross my fingers. My reasoning is that if I could find a bet where I was more or less  as likely to lose as to win, then in the long run the 100% bonus from the times I win should more than cover the occasions on which I lose.

I sold the even money favourite on race 3 (Cloudy Bay) for 20p each time and won 7 times of of 10.

This gave a profit of £15 which they should double to £30 after the weekend.

Risk Warning - Sports spread betting involves a high level of risk and you can lose more than your original stake. It is not suitable for everyone so please ensure you understand the risks involved and only bet with money you can afford to lose. Sporting Index is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority.

Best Strategy for Ladbrokes Odds-On Card

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

Ladbrokes introduced a new credit card sized loyalty card for their betting shop customers last week. This looks to be absolutely perfect for matched bettors. I am happy when I can find a 1% arb on their football coupons. Using this “odds-on” card should generate an additional 1% profit on top.

Simply hand the card to the cashier before you bet. They scan it into their machine and the points are updated within 24 hrs. You don’t need to register your card to start collecting points but you must do so in order to redeem them.

The downside of this is that Ladbrokes will have a COMPLETE RECORD of my bets with them. This is not good at all. If anyone reviews my account I imagine alarms bells will start ringing fairly quickly. Max bets at 6 or 7 different shops on the same football game within the space of two hours isn’t typical of the sort of mug punter they are hoping for.

Yet, if I don’t use the card that’s valuable profit slipping away.

What I am doing at the moment is using two cards. One registered in my name and one in the name of a friend (who doesn’t gamble very much). I have stuck a piece of Sellotape to one of the cards so I can tell them apart.

I use my card for the first bet on any event. Duplicate bets all get charged to the other card. So hopefully my betting pattern looks normal and if there is any negative comeback on the second card my friend won’t care. We will split the proceeds from the second card 50/50.

The scheme works as follows: You get 1 point for every £1 you bet. Once you’re got 250 points you can start claiming jokers.

250 points -a 5% joker

500 points -a 10% joker

750 points -a 15% joker

1,000 points-a 20% joker

2,000 points-a free £30 SR (stake returned) bet

An x% joker adds x% to your winnings on any single or accumulator bet upto a max. stake of £500. The free bet cannot be split, it must be used in one go.

Interestingly, if you can get a chunky bet on it looks like using the jokers gives a higher return than waiting for 2,000 points and claiming the free bet.

My reasoning is as follows:

Because the bet is Stake Returned you should be able to match it out with at most the loss of a few pennies. So it has a cash value of £30.

Now, consider using the 20% joker with a £500 bet. They probably won’t take £500 unless the price is pretty short so lets say we find a small football arb:1.2 to back with Ladbrokes, 1.19 to lay on the machine.

Plug these numbers into the spreadsheet with 3% commission and you get:

Back £500 @1.2, Lay £517.24 Profit £1.72

Now feed in the 20% bonus and you get

Back £500 @1.24, Lay £534.48 Profit £18.45

So 1,000 points yields £16.73 and the 2,000 points needed for the free £30 bet are worth £33.46 an extra £3.46.

If you are being limited, it will be better to take the free bet. The cut-off point in this example appears to be £453.36.

What is not yet clear to me is when you bet £500 “Playing your Joker” (remember Its A Knockout?) whether you also get 500 new points towards the next joker. If so, this will tilt the balance even further away from the free bet.

When my card is updated tomorrow I will have over 1,000 points so expect to redeem the points sometime later this week.
